This photo was planned to be purely conceptual, showing how an obsessive love of music (as with any art) can become all encompassing, all controlling, your lover, your master, urging you to keep working and not give up. It is also a very apt portrait of Blare...he was the perfect model for this piece. He's a musician/technician/hardcore heavy metal guitar hero and when he's immersed in music the rest of the world ceases to exist.

Thank you :) I got Blare when he'd just come back from a camping trip and was too exhausted to care what I did to him. He just sat there with a bottle of beer while I tied him up and messed with his hair. A tired man with beer is a compliant man ;)

I absolutely love this photograph. Stunning lighting and contrasts. The monochrome looks gorgeous. His expression is pure perfection and it beautifully captures the spirit and aggression of that genre of music. Being a huge fan of both heavy metal and guitars, I really appreciate this wonderful composition.

That's such an excellent insight, thank you so much! Blare makes 'aggressive trance metal' music which is both beautiful and angry in equal measures so I aimed to show both sides of that, with an angry vibe and good solid artistic composition. You're welcome. You did an incredible job on it. It's actually quite amusing when some people learn that I listen to heavy metal:). Does he have any sound samples on the internet? I would love to listen.
