This is My Personal Nightmare
For more information about the My Personal Nightmare horror photography art challenge, please visit this news article.

Recent health problems and a coctail of medication has left me having some really strange and violent dreams of teeth falling out, fingers dropping off, suffocation, eyeballs exploding and other such unpleasantness. On the upside, I've been feeling very creative lately and have enjoyed the rather cathartic experience of exorcising the demons of my nightmares with photography.

Obviously all injuries here are fake :aww:

The four photographs in this set are meant to be seen as a collection, together, all at once.

a very dark and gruesome feeling here. loving the pattern the bandage makes here, and the blood is a great colour in the lighting conditions. must be one hell of a nightmare :noes:

I have a love/hate relationship with the concept of finger amputation. I love it as a visual theme but the thought of any injury to an extremity freaks me out so much. When I was younger, my dad lost the top of his finger in an accident with a boat engine and I remember sitting in the doctor's surgery with him, ooh-ing and ahh-ing at how gross and awesome the finger-stump looked. Turns out people don't appreciate that while they're having their finger-innards cleaned of oil with a metal brush.

oh gruesome :noes: i'm not surprised you have the love/hate relationship. One of my figner cutting images got Geoff all gooey inside because it was marginally close to an injury he had- it was a cut to the bone with a kitchen knife O_o

This one is definitely my favorite of this set, but all four are excellent. ^_^

Did you do the blood on the bandages before or after putting them on?

Thanks  The blood went on after the bandage but I wrapped the whole thing too tightly which is why my fingers are all purple and swollen. Which actually works with the picture, I think.

yes I did. Hmm when I was 17. so 15 years ago.
A tractor accident.
Dad was driving over an old wooden bridge on the farm. It gave way. the Tractor went over into the stream / river my fingers were jammed between the mud guard and the duck board.
one of them was too badly crushed to save. ( plus it was only hanging on by the skin) and the other was broken in many places. But they were able to save that one.

So yeah when it was all warped up it pretty much looked just like that photo of yours. but it was up in the air, and I had a drip coming out of it too ( my veins arnt very good, they give way, so the drip was in all sorts of places even my toe )

That's awful! You poor thing  I'm actually making a horrified face at the computer screen right now. Drips in toes don't sound good. I have crappy veins too - no visible ones in my arms - so tend to be threatened with having blood tests done through the back of my hand which I always resist as much as possible. Never had a needle in my toe before though. Ouch!

Lol.. My Mum is the same well hers are worse.
But we have no problems with needles. Seen as it can often take a good hour to get enough blood out of us lol

I think I wrapped the bandage too tight round my hand. I only noticed afterwards that my fingers had gone purple.
