I absolutely dig the colors in this, as well as the focus. The model's attitude and expression are just awesome... one of those "wish I'd done that" moments, see this. :)

Thank you so much

This picture was a total after-thought and the outfit was created with a random scarf held in place by the buckled corset-y thing borrowed from one of the other models. Plus, Lucie is ridiculously pretty :aww:

I love how everything is on the same color palette. Sometimes mono is best, sometimes shocking contrast is best. This is awesome, regardless.

Thanks  I usually gravitate towards a single colour with varying shades and tones in my photos, although I have no idea why. It's one of those things that I notice after the fact.

I'm so with you on the make-up. My skin freaks out when I wear foundation and my eyes hate mascara. It's not totally apparent here, but Lucie's entire face was painted with shimmery translucent stuff. I guess maybe models' faces get used to all the make-up :)

Ah you may remember a few months back when I asked if I could interview you for a school project...?
Well I ended up taking a different tact and demonstrating how the angle of lighting has just as big an effect on the way that people view a scene as the colouring does. Hence why didn't end up interviewing you.

But now I'm putting together a lighting reference set.
So demonstrating how different colours, angles etc can really change the moods.
And your shots just demonstrate things so perfectly...
So was wondering if I could use them for references and bug you with questions and maybe get you to send me test shots, sans gels, so I can show the others how much the colour makes a difference...?

Maybe
If you're not too busy and stuffs

You're welcome to use my photos for your presentation and I'll answer any questions you have as best I can, but the photos with coloured light aren't ever shot without the gels to start with. When I come up with the plan for a shoot, if it involves coloured light that's all I work with.

The reason being that adding a coloured gel can really effect how the light interacts with the models. This one is the only photo I have (I think!) that shows that difference as the light from the left is red and the light from the right is un-coloured.

Coloured light can have a block smoothing effect with looks almost artificial (which is why I love it) when the light is placed close to the model, like this picture. This effect is even more pronounced when sheer fabric and very smooth surfaces are added into the mix, like this one.

I hope that at least gives you the foundation for some questions. I'm happy to help :)
