I had a really lovely day today. I met ~
Vambo64 for a coffee and a chat at the cafe my exhibition is in. Why so lovely? Because even though I've known Marty for absolutely AGES (he bought two prints from me back when I first started taking photos and was still at college) and we only live about an hour away from each other, we'd never actually managed to be in the same place at the same time before.
Because of the nature of my work, I tend to speak to clients online before I meet them in person. Same goes for models and stylists that I do artistic collaborations with. I've met a bunch of people online who have ended up being good friends in 'real life'. I hate that term...what's better? In the physical realm?
Unfortunately most of the people who I meet and adore online don't live within driving or bus/train-ing distance. I would love to be able to afford to travel around the world having coffees and chats with all the fabulous people I know on dA, but unless I win the lottery it's not likely to happen any time soon.
Thing is, how many people do I talk to online and really like who I DO live reasonably close to? Quite a few! And do I ever get my shit together enough to actually meet them? No. Cause I'm crap and disorganised. But that WILL change...call it an early new year's resolution. Lisa, Simon, Dave - get yer diaries out!
Totally off-topic but still damn cool, I had a meeting with the rope master who's going to be doing the bondage stuff for a shoot in September and I am SO hyped about the shoot now! I got to spend yesterday evening experiencing his work, being tied up (on a chair in a pub...hehe!) and trying on lots of very expensive and very pretty handcuffs. We're going to be working together on more than just art shoots, so keep an eye on the Service + Rates section of RockstarVanity.com in coming months for some very exciting new things...

This entry's features come from the winners of *

I also have a
much bigger print store (literally hundreds of photos) at Fotki. Prints are priced the same as on dA - from £0.97/$1.95 for a 4x6 inch print to £24.92/$49.95 for a 20x30 inch print (on paper).

My first book, Violently Beautiful, is now for sale through
Blurb. It's a full-colour 80 page retrospective with my work from the first three years of my career spanning the genres of alternative fashion, fetish, modern pin-up, horror, portraiture and conceptual art. There are two versions, a 7x7 inch paperback
Original Edition and an 8x10 inch hardback
Deluxe Edition.

One that I really wanted to meet happened to walk into the same coffee shop that I was in, but about 20 minutes after I had left!

i can;t see any friends or familt being okay with me meeting people off the internet.. overprotective everyone- but it;s not like you can blame them in this day and age.
i also feel if i meet up, you might be able to give me some tips on how to exhibit my work.. i know it sounds stupid, but i'm dying to sell something since i realised my degree is pretty useless without 4 years experience and a driving license, as well as money to relocate to london, the depths of scotland or Australia/Middle East (the middle east is clearly a no no.)
