This is the only gallery which I feature from.
To find out more about the Darkroom Photography galleries, please see
this journal with detailed gallery descriptions and examples.
To help promote the
intriguing creative processes involved in both Traditional and Digital Darkroom photography, I would like to shine a light on images which show
skillful use of these techniques. Please bear this in mind when suggesting.
I especially love featuring images which have an explanation of techniques and materials in the Artist's Comments so viewers can learn more about how the photographs were created.
While I don't mind featuring images which use a stock texture every now and then, I prefer not to feature pictures which involve major photographic elements created by someone other than the person who submitted the piece to dA.

While I have nothing against featuring regularly explored subject matter, I also love to bring more exposure to unusual and unexpected imagery. Your suggestions can help create beautiful scenery on the photographic road less travelled!
I rarely choose Daily Deviation features based on my own personal taste. While I obviously have to be impressed by the impact of an image to feature it, I never make my choices based on how attractive I find a person in a photograph or whether my favourite animal, flower or place is depicted. Daily Deviations are about the art and the artists who create it, not about me.
I also
never choose Daily Deviations based on life events. DDs are an art feature, a way to share amazing creations with the dA community, not a birthday present.

While I do not feature work from artists who have had a Daily Deviation in the last 6 months and I enjoy promoting photographers whose work you probably haven’t seen all over dA already, I would
never reject a suggestion purely based on how many views, comments or favourites the photograph has had.
I don't reject suggestions based on how many Daily Deviations an artist has had previously either. That said, I won't give two Daily Deviations to the same person, ever.
You're welcome to suggest your own work if you like. I admire people who have the guts to promote themselves and their creations. If you suggest your own work, I appreciate you taking the time to include a reason why you're suggesting that particular image or your work in general but please make it about your art, not the fact that it's your wedding anniversary next week or you're sad because no-one comments on your pictures.
If I don't feel that the image you suggested is the best representation of your work, I may choose another from your gallery. I wouldn't reject you as an artist based on one image. If you're having trouble choosing one image to suggest from your own gallery, just send me a note and say that - I'm happy to take a look at your body of work and see if I find something suitable for a feature.
To suggest a Darkroom photograph for a Daily Deviation, simply send me a note with DD Suggestion as the subject and include a thumbnail of the image in the note. You don’t have to explain why you think the work should be featured, but you’re very welcome to.
I read and reply to ALL notes but if your suggestion (of someone else's work) isn’t selected to be featured as a Daily Deviation, I won’t go into details as it doesn’t feel right to critique someone’s work to another person.
Please don't repeatedly suggest the same image or the same artist for a Daily Deviation. The volume of suggestions makes no difference to me. If I want to feature something, I'll feature it whether one person or a hundred suggest it. If I choose not to feature something, I have my reasons. Sending twenty more notes or having a bunch of your friends suggest the same thing will have no effect.
Remember, anyone can suggest a Daily Deviation. You don't have to be a Community Volunteer (or friends with one), a staff member, a senior member, a premium member...everyone's suggestions are welcome and no-one is ever given preference based on their membership status.
