:megaphone: How did you discover deviantART, is there a story behind your journey here?
Throughout 1999/2000 I was an active member of several wallpaper/skinning websites and I happened to notice an 'affiliates' button on one of them which led back to deviantART so I checked it out and wound up joining just about a month after deviantART launched. I really liked the fact that only deviantART had an "IndyArt" category at the time which accepted non-wallpaper resolutions so being more of a sketch artist then wallpaper artist I eventually stopped going to all the other websites where I was a member. Now that I really think about it most of those early communities either don't exist any more or they aren't recognizable as what
La LineaThis is one of the most influential and iconic animated series ever made in my opinion. La Linea (The Line) is a classic Italian animated series by Osvaldo Cavandoli. The animation follows the character, Mr. Linea, who is drawn by a single line. Even if you don't know La Linea, some of you may recognise the voice actor as the original voice of Pingu the penguin. The language he speaks is based on Italian (Milanese dialect) but spoken in a way that essentially is gibberish!
Due to it's 'lack of language' this became an international hit, which I think is one of the best essences of film making. Having the power to cross borders without a language barrier is a fantastic skill to have!
But why do I think this is one series we should all know about?

The camera you never leave behind

Inspired by Photography Troubleshooting: Which Camera Phone by ^Kaz-D, I asked some photographers to share images that they'd created with the camera that lives in their pocket - their phone! While a camera phone isn't exactly a substitute for a dSLR, it's often the only camera that most of us carry with us every day. Although your camera phone is probably more likely to be used for party photos and holiday snaps, there's no reason why it can't be used to create artistic pictures too, if you feel that way inclined.

It's all about knowing your tools and having fun! If art can be created with a plastic film camera with no viewfinder or a 30 year old Polaroid camera, surely a camera phone held by someone with an artistic eye can be just as valid. Here are some examples of gorgeous photos shot with a phone. Enjoy!

I don't think my phone takes pictures at a high enough resolution to even make an avatar with :giggle:

But it's nice to see these examples :D Maybe one day I'll get paid, then I'll get me a smartphone :)
