Not so much as stolen as someone posted it on a forum descussion on myspace.com

I guessed it was probably actually friends of my sister who had shown them my work so i wasn't too fussed. I would serriously kick off if people ever stole it though!

Couple of people stole my "Dirty Lust..." pic and edited it or just re-posted it as it was. I told them to take it down and they did. Also found some of my stuff on other sites. :(

i've had people horribly redraw my art and slap it on a domain they bought so they could pretend to be me... i've had people create deviantart accounts with my work before... i've also had people in real life see my art hanging somewhere and they go and copy it, selling it to other places

it sucks ;_;

just think of it as a compliment. one that pisses you off a lot. lets form an angry mob *grabs a pitchfork*

Nah, and as ridiculous as this sounds for a twist on perspective. I'd be honored if someone thought it was good enough to steal, so I think I'd smile in some fucked up way. LOL

Yeah, other people said that to, so I guess it is flattering in a way!

IN a way, but I think to an accomplished artist that sells prints and stuff, it would be completey revolting. I remember when magazines would get a hold of some of my model's images somehow and just use them without paying for usage or anything and I didn't take it as a compliment then!! I hunted them down and slapped a big ole fat invoice WITH penalties on their asses. So, it's different I think depending on the level, involvement and mindset. I certainly don't mean to make light of it. ;)

"Yes, by someone who sold it but didn't claim to have created it."
This is so odd that you've asked this poll and talked about being ripped on the very day that I re-posted Shanghai Amy, for that was the work of mine that was ripped.
It turned up on a cell phone cover (with other Futurama characters , some of which were ripped from other Futurama fan artists that I know) being sold on e-Bay.
Now, there's not much I could really do, since I don't have any claim to the charater, but because they were selling many other cell phone covers, also with obvious copyright infringed material on them, I was able to get
Warner Brothers, Disney, and Harley-Davidson to go after them with much success.
The stuff was all gone in a couple days.

Oh wow, well done! I LOVE that you got big companies involved to get it all sorted. The scary thing is, you're the second person to have had work ripped and sold on eBay. `krash has experienced the same thing.

Not that I'm aware of.. but, like Heather, I would so track them down and rip out their eyelashes one by one. :evillaugh:

That's a very nice means of revenge, the eyelashes thing. Painful, and also it takes forever for eyelashes to grow back (I know this because I accidentally cut a few of mine when I was trimming my hair a few years ago!).

Not that I know of. But I swear to god. If anyone EVER did. I'd fucking track them down, staple them to a desk and stab them with a swiss army knife over and over and over until they bleed out. At least thats what I'd say I'd do to them ;)

I've never had work of my own stolen -snickers- I mean I wouldn't steal my work so yeah... Anyway... I have however had commissioned work stolen before now and that pissed me and the artist off no end. Especially when the idiot had the nerve to upload it to a game which states that you must have the artists permission, which they didn't. I loathe art thieves... -Twitches-

That was a horrible thing for someone to have done, especially uploading it to the game when it wasn't theirs in the first place!

Yeah, I ripped into them once or twice, sent an email to the game and after a while they disappeared. I think the only thing on my side was I co-ran a popular place on the game and had the position to kind of reach a large number of people with the problem.

few days ago I found a pic of my muppet on my old friend's page [she doesn't know I have my page on DA too ]. shot was taken by me , and in my room, but she shows it like it's her property and everyone says 'aww!so cute' etc ;) . I'm not gonna do anything about it 'cause it's just a simple snapshot which I had never called an artpiece. But finding it here was a big surprise for me, I must say :D
