I take pictures of myself playing with light and my webcam. I like my webcam cause it has a grainy look and I can turn them into my horror black and white pictures more easily in photoshop. I wouldn't call it high standard though XD I just like using myself cause I get the poses I want and can perfect them with multiple shots and take the good ones.
Hmm I have shot self portraits and will be doing more shortly but they're nothing like any of the examples even though I would say they were of high standards... I suppose because I tend to shoot in context and not closely framed.
It's certainly not a dominant theme in my gallery anyway
Yes, I am a female that takes a lot of self-portraits.. I hold myself to a consistently high standard that I feel I never seem to meet. I always try to DO something with the portraits.. (I despise doing 'look i'm pretty' ports just because) I try to create something of high quality that has meaning and adds something to the artistic community.. whether or not that's accomplished is more for my critics to comment on
I frequently come up with self-portraits, and agree with all of the questioned. I am confident that my work is not high standard to my "point of view", but the highest standard within my own capabilities (as an art student, I'm sure there's plenty left to learn)
I have taken a few self portraits but usually I don't like them so they do not get posted on here. I'm really hard on myself when it comes to pictures of me cause I have a confidence issue.. The examples you shared are really beautiful!
And, from what I have seen, they are not only of a consistently high quality, but they avoid all of the cliches. Far too many self portraits are copies of glamour magazine covers, or glorified FB/My Space shots, but yours are experimental and evocative.
So, I answered yes, not because I think my work has always been of superb quality, but because I know the amount of effort that has gone in to the last few self portraits I have posted. God only knows I could and will do better.
Well, I'll be completely honest here... It doesn't much if it's me or someone else... my portraits are not so good. I should work on that at some point.
But, I definitely try when I do.
Alas, high standard is subjective! How dare you! and... also have a basis of general of quality photography all around, which means probably not taken my your camera phone in your mirror with bad lighting. photo-shopped so heavlity your lips look lick pixie dust and there's so much noise your ears bleed in silence
I delete any that aren't good-looking high-quality, but most of my pictures of myself are spontaneous. When I prepare ahead of time, they are much nicer, but in general, I think I do take nice self-portraits. <3
well I guess that first off I gotta say that I'm not much of a GOOD photographer anyway, I mean- I've got a lot to study... but I love to do self-portraits. First of all, I gotta say, I am a bit narcissistic, so I love myself... I know it doesn't really sound alright, but it's who I am, and I embrace the way I look and do not feel bad to expose myself. Second of all, I don't really let anyone take photos of me, cause I am kind of... shy, I guess... and I don't feel comfortable posing in front of others.
I do have a few self portraits in my port. My avitar is the latest one I've done. Not sure if it's "high standard" but it was fun to do lol. I use my husband and myself for what I call "test runs" which are usually me testing new equipment or programs.
I know 'high standard' is totally subjective. I am being subjective here. Please don't leave comments about how everyone's perception of quality is different etc etc etctodeath. I know this. The examples given reference what I see as being of a high standard (just this once since I usually go to ridiculous degrees to be uber-inclusive of everything all the time everywhere) and I promise that the standard I'm referring to is of the quality of photography, not the appearance of the model.
So yeah, leave a comment if you're a self-portrait-ing lady of awesome and identify your beautiful self. There is a reason for all this. It is currently top secret, wrapped in secret and weighed down by secret at the bottom of the secret lake.

I think the term "consistently high standard" is actually not quite as subjective as it might seem. While stylistic choice and content may vary, a well-lit, well-focused and well composed photo taken with actual glass (as opposed to a cell phone camera) shows commitment to quality. Technical knowledge, or the willingness to experiment, add to that quality.
