I admired this one band for 11 years, and when I met them, I was devastated. Couldn't listen to their music for a year. When they came out with new songs, I started listening to them again but I can't go to their concerts anymore. I regret meeting them more than anything else.

No, I've had the opportunity to, but chose not to.
I would hate to be disappointed.

I don't really admire famous people...I most admire the people near me, actually, and I love meeting them. ;)

None of the famous people I've met have ever been rude to me, but I say "kind of" because I always find it awkward. Having that dynamic in the conversation (the admirer/idol thing) kills the potential to be friends! :(

It does make the experience like 300x better when they're really sweet, though. I get so happy. :aww:

It's nice meeting people you admire when they turn out to be nice. Most people I admire now a days are artists and designers. I met Tim Andrews (one of my ceramics heroes) a couple of years ago and he was lovely. The person I would most like to meet now would be the artists/filmmaker Matthew Barney; I absolutely love his work. If I could choose someone to be stuck on an island with it would be him, I bet we could have some really interesting discussions! :D Would love to meet Damien Hirst as well, but that might not be as much fun... ;)

I had a few bad experiences when I was younger and into black/death metal and met bands I admired and they turned out to be absolute total wankers. On the up side I met Christofer from Therion and he was so nice it almost made up for all the others being shits. But not quite. :P

last february i had the chance to meet Apocalyptica!
totally random, and actually a funny story that involves me needing to pee desperately xD
but anyway, they happened to be SUCH nice people! seriously! they kept letting us take pictures even though the security people said not to, and they took time to talk to us -in a very funny english xD-, and they acted just like normal people, a bit shy, even.
just because of that experience i now admire them even more ^_^
but i'm sure if i met someone like Mailyn Manson it would be totally different tho >_>

I use the saying "I like the art not the artist" a lot.

Ignorance it truly bliss for me in this topic.
I would rather continue loving a song or movie or artwork and not know the person who created it is a complete arsehole, things like that do taint my experiences with things...
