I think that moving things that are miscategorized, and promoting horror photography should be highest, followed by trying to explain to people what is and what is not horror. Seeing a photo of somebody who looks like they have had a bucket of red paint thrown at them should not be considered horror.

I'm sure looking for decent deviations would be more fun, but miscats are a damned epidemic around here.

I've wondered though, could it be more that the categories for some stuff is just fubar? When I go to put things into the "Design" area, it's not organized in anyway that I'd think would be the best way to do things. That might have to be looked into as well.

ok, it's really hard to organise these into a priority list, 'cos theyre all so important..

1. DD's / browsing, discovery (as if you could stop yourself!)
2. Moving miscat deviations (can i help you on this please?! ggrrr)
3. photolust/GT Proj. (to be honest i havnt gotten involved with either of these yet, but i'm sure theyre very vital (esp. the latter).
4.News articles (varies on importance of news - just a photofeature or a real important report
5. community projects.
6.Journals/features (same as 4.)
7. replies/comments (depending on importance)

I personally love your journals (personal rants) and your gallery best but that was before you were a GM without all these yummy lil extras anyway :P

Maybe play around with 4/5. Oh and don't forget to apply the braaaaains & crocs to 'em all! And also remember to breathe, eat and sleep! Phew, i'm exhausted just thinking about everything you have to do! Merry Christmas luv x

I voted for all of the above, no particular order though. You're already pretty much doing all of those things. I think that maybe every couple of months you should host some sort of Horror contest with a specific theme. That would be fun!

You probably can’t realistically put everything in preferential order as the workload will vary, so to some degree you need to play it how it comes.

If it was me, I would be looking at something like this, I have groped together some tasks that kind of go together, I like order and logic, but you know that already.

1. Keeping up with non-GM stuff like PhotoLust and the Global Tutorials Project
Keeping up with my own message centre, replying to notes, commenting on devwatch stuff and replying to comments

2. Writing news articles to provide information and education

3. Keeping in touch with everyone via regular journals with features
Daily Deviations, reading suggestion notes and browsing for cool stuff to feature

4. Organizing community projects and contest

5. Moving miscatregorised deviations to keep the gallery organized (surprised that I put this last? ) this is because whilst it can be important to have “labels” its not the end of the world if things are in the wrong place for a while, and in some cases its debatable/subjective where stuff should go, plus I am naturally non conformist, so you probably just ignore this bit :D

While I like moving miscats a lot, I was told by a fellow GM not to prioritize that, for it's not our main job -- so yeah :P Nothing wrong with doin' it when you're bored but yanno. That doesn't need to go on top of the list.. (Source: ^Ikue :P)

I say DDs, it's important to keep featuring less-known work. :)

But it's up to you, really, you're GM and we all trust you to do a great job with whatever you feel best.

I'm sure you do well, whatever you do... Though I do like when GMs and deviants others watch profusely create competitions and such. It gives deviants who aren't noticed, but create wonderful art, the chance to get noticed by winning, or coming in second place or whatnot.

Here's what I think...

GM's are best at organizing community projects, and everyone wants to be able to reach them and talk to them. DDs are cool and all, and of course they have to get done, but I think if you can get those done in advance then you can have more time for everything else! And miscats are a huge issue now, too.

So, here goes...

1) Daily Deviations, reading suggestion notes and browsing for cool stuff to feature

2) Organising community projects and contest

3) Moving miscatregorised deviations to keep the gallery organised

4) Keeping up with my own message centre, replying to notes, commenting on devwatch stuff and replying to comments

5) Keeping in touch with everyone via regular journals with features

6) Keeping up with non-GM stuff like PhotoLust and the Global Tutorials Project (don't drop them just because you're a GM - it's part of what made you stand out in the community before that, too!)

7) Writing news articles to provide information, education and big pimpin'

I am kinda partial to the crocodiles myself so of course I would choose that one.
But seriously it is hard to pick just one so I would have to say that while the DD are of a good deal of importance, The miscats seem to be becoming more of an issue lately. I truly would not want your job and try to keep up with all of the Gallery stuff as well as the personal stuff....
You are doing a great job and I (I can't speak for everyone else) for one believe that you will continue doing a great job. Seems my husband spends A LOT of time in "your" gallery and seldom does he come out complaining

1) moving miscategorized artwork (obviously this is a MOAJORLY important job and needs to be done)

2)Message Center (It would be nice to ACTUALLY be able to reach GMs lol)

3) Daily Deviations (I think it's important to spend time with the artists of your gallery, if not for them, your job would not exsist)

4) Community projects (you guys organize things the best)

5)Journals(more important than news articles because it gives you more indepth details to what's going on with GMs that week or month)

6)News articles(gotta stay informed)

7) non-GM things (you know...)

There's a lot to do and only so many hours in the day. Obviously I'll always do my best to keep up with everything, but I would really like to hear from you guys about what you think I should prioritise.

I'm here for you and for the horror gallery, and I want to do the best job I can to support you all and spend my time working on the things that you guys see as most important.

:aww:
