so I get to see the impact on a variety of people a regular basis
although on a personal level I grew up in Coventry where there was a huge amount of violent crime related to alcohol so I regularly saw glassings. In fact there is a large number of people of a certain age in Cov with glass shaped scars on their faces. There is still violence now but don't think it was quite as explict as the raw violence of the 1970's !
I managed to avoid being a victim of this- although quite close on more than a couple of times
and one of my friends at uni got knocked down and killed by a drunk driver , well to be more acurate knocked down seriously injured went into a coma and then died
don't ever drive drunk
The people ending up in hospital thing just cracks me up. Last christmas I tore ligaments in my ankle and went to hospital. I swear, my husband (who was being my walking stick) and I were the only sober people in casualty apart from the people who worked there. The funny this was, I got seen in about 10 minutes, before all the other people waiting who were drunk.
